Skirball Fire threatens Getty Center, shuts down 405

A wildfire near the Getty Cultural Center has caused a complete shutdown of the 405 Freeway between the 101 and 10 freeways in Los Angeles, according to Caltrans.

The Rye fire had burned about 5,000 acres and was threatening structures near the Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park with 1,300 homes under evacuation order. This is now the fifth fire burning in the region.

All the fires were driven by the strongest seasonal Santa Ana winds so far this year.

Homes in the area were being evacuated, including those on Bundy Canyon Road and Mandeville Canyon Road.
