The goal for this Holiday season is to help around 2,000 children and teenagers receive gifts this Christmas, and according to Davies donations are right on track to reaching its goal.
People can drop off the toys at the event on Friday or look for one of the organization's signature decorative boxes at stores and restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. Those wanting to make a monetary donation can make checks payable to Toys for Tots and mail it to 511 New York Ave., Ogdensburg, N.Y.
LeCureux says Toys for Tots is an annual part of the Marine Corps mission, created to provide toys to children that might not receive them during the holiday season.
The inaugural drive, in coordination with Larimer County Toys for Tots, is seeking toys appropriate for ages 0 to 18. Faith Christian School has stepped up to help Toys for Tots over the years. While they have already collected thousands of toys, they are still looking for more. Faith Christian holds an annual Toys for Tots campaign and is known to collect the most toys for Toys for Tots, Sannes said.
A toy drive will also be held at the Ogdensburg Walmart from 5 to 7 p.m. on December 15. Sannes said the collected toys are being stored in a warehouse off US 301 and will be sorted and distributed out before Christmas.
Toys for Tots does not accept clothing items and donated toys must be new.
