Tre'Davious White thankfully did not suffer any serious injuries from the hit that earned Rob Gronkowski a one-game suspension. The leagueannounced the decision of appeals officer Derrick Brooks.
Gronkowski dove into White as the rookie cornerback lay face-down after a fourth-quarter interception in Sunday's 23-3 loss to New England, driving his left arm into the back of White's helmet. He also spoke for the first time about the league levying just a one-game suspension for what everyone agrees was dirty and risky. He practiced on a limited basis Wednesday before clearing the concussion protocol Thursday.
It is hard to blame Lewis for this assessment, as Gronkowski's actions were clearly wrong and unnecessary to say the least. I mean, there was a lot of frustration and I was just really frustrated at that moment and it just happened naturally through emotions.
White called Gronkowski's one-game suspension "a joke". I bit my lip pretty bad. People don't think about that when they react, but that's here or there.
"I don't believe in shots like that", Gronkowski said, according to ESPN. "Awful headache. It is what it is".
