At least one tank shell was sacked into an area, east of the al-Maghazi refugee camp, in central Gaza, and was followed by many live rounds.
Residents in the Gaza Strip reported that there were no casualties from the strikes, according to Reuters.
Around two hours later the army said that another rocket, fired form the enclave's north, exploded in southern Israel.
