Bryan Fuller Lestat-us Update: He's Working On Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles Show

It's high time we saw another Vampire Chronicles adaptation, and with the current trend for big-budget TV, you'll get all the gore and sexy vampire melodrama you could possibly want.

After departing the second season of Starz's American Gods adaptation, Bryan Fuller has moved on to become a part of The Vampire Chronicles, an adaptation of Anne Rice's novel series. He's developing "The Vampire Chronicles" with Anne Rice, who finally made a decision to bring the vampire Lestat's story to the small screen.

The executive producer, who exited as American Gods co-showrunner in November, is teaming with novelist Anne Rice and her author son, Christopher Rice, to create a TV series based centered on Rice's famous vampire, Lestat.

Anne Rice's son and collaborator on the project, Christopher Rice, revealed the news with an fantastic anecdote on Facebook, sharing that when he was just a teenager, Fuller had looked Rice up in the phone book and told her he had a dream of adapting her books for the screen one day. "Today", Christopher wrote, "I'm thrilled to inform you that the young man of which I speak is Bryan Fuller, who grew up to be one of television's most innovative creative forces..." The co-creator of Discovery, he left the television revival before it debuted previous year. The first novel was famously adapted in 1994 as a hit film starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. Stuart Townsend also played Lestat in 2002's Queen of the Damned.

In the years since that adaptation, the Twilight series and True Blood series have both proven just how effective and exciting stories of love and vampires can be, making it seem like an obvious decision to adapt more of Rice's stories.
