Stokes, Gayle, Root among top foreign stars in IPL auction

Thirty-six players, including the likes of in-form Yuzvendra Chahal and Rashid Khan, un-retained stars R. Ashwin, Gautam Gambhir, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo, and fading stars like Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh have fixed their base price in the highest bracket of Rs. 2 crore for the forthcoming mega Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction, to be held in Bengaluru on January 27 and 28.
Among the 282 overseas players, Australia have the most number of players in the auction with 58 and are closely followed by South Africa with 57. Some 1,122 players will be on the auction block for the eight teams to bid for.
It is learnt that the list that has been sent out to the eight IPL franchises has 281 capped players, 838 uncapped players, including 778 Indians and three players from the Associate nations.
The England Test captain will be among 282 global players who have signed up for the IPL auction. While Gayle wasn't retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for this season, Stokes, who played his maiden season of the IPL a year ago, had been the most expensive acquisition of IPL 2017.

Dennison served as offensive coordinator with the Denver Broncos (2006-08, 2015-16) and with the Houston Texans (2010-13). Dennison joined Buffalo shortly after Sean McDermott was hired as the team's head coach previous year .
From the Blackcaps, skipper Kane Williamson, Colin Munro and Tom Latham will be the most important players in the auction.
The list of players on auction also includes players from Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Krunal Pandya, who is expected to fetch a lot of money in the auction, has set his base price at INR 40 lakhs.
From the Caribbean, Dwayne Bravo, Carlos Braithwaite, Evin Lewis and Jason Holder would be the most sought after players in the IPL 2018 auction.
Hashim Amla, Kagiso Rabada, Faf du Plessis and Morne Morkel are some of the South Africans, who are also part of the list. Prominent Sri Lankan players who will undergo the hammer are Thisara Perera, Niroshan Dickwella, Lasith Malinga and skipper Angelo Mathews. Jofra Archer still looks set to wait out naturalization with his stated ambition to play for England but right now he could be bound for an IPL spell after his brilliant displays in the Big Bash League.
