Nintendo has announced a new Super Smash Bros. game for the Switch console.
Considering that teaser involved Splatoon'sInkling Girl, it's nearly fitting that Splatoon 2 will be one of the first Switch games to enjoy something new this year. This also looks particularly likely since it was just confirmed that the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is coming to the Switch later this year. Suddenly, the lights turn out and there's a glint of a fiery Super Smash Bros logo in the inkling girl's eye, showing us what the trailer is really all about. A demo is coming May 10, with the full game coming May 24.
Splatoon is still a pretty new Nintendo franchise, so if the Inklings can be in Smash, why not a character from another new Nintendo IP, ARMS? The Solaire of Astora amiibo lets you, according to Nintendo, "perform the popular "praise the sun" gesture with reckless abandon".
YoYo Games, the home of GameMaker, made the announcement in a press release which also follows yesterday's announcement that Undertale is coming to the Switch...eventually. WarioWare Gold will be out in August, and Nintendo is promising that it will be more packed than any other previous game in the series.
Nintendo is releasing a remake of the classic GameCube title "Luigi's Mansion" for the 3DS. The surprise: You'll be able to drum along to songs from Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey, including "Jump Up, Super Star". So, we don't know yet whether it is a ported game with only a few improvements or it is a new version of the game.
You can look for both games to launch this spring for the Nintendo Switch.
