Bomb Targets Palestinian Authority PM's Convoy as It Enters Gaza

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and the head of his Preventive Security Majid Faraj survived an assassination attempt upon their arrival in the Gaza Strip Tuesday morning, as their convoy was attacked by three auto bombs after entering the Beit Hanoun crossing in the northern Gaza Strip, Ma'an reported.

However, Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah was unharmed Tuesday but his Palestinian Authority quickly accused Gaza militants of trying to kill him.

Seven people were injured in the vehicle bomb attack, which blew up three cars and was complemented by gunmen who opened fire on the convoy. One had signs of blood on the door. Gunfire was reported shortly after the explosion. It promised an "urgent" investigation.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' spokesperson, held Hamas responsible for the attack.

The top Palestinian Authority officials made the rare trip from the West Bank for the inauguration of a desalination plant.
