CM Punk fans will be hoping he'll receive a more evenly matched opponent this time around.
TMZ Sports announced on Monday afternoon that former WWE Champion CM Punk will return to The Octagon for his second career fight in the UFC.
Last month, Punk hinted at a comeback when he reacted to a UFC social media post about UFC 225.
WWE champion CM Punk, left, is shown with fans Oliver Whittaker, of London, right, and his fiancee Maria Rosenberg, of Chattanooga, Tenn., at the WWE Wrestlemania Axxess, a fan event at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Thursday, March 29, 2012 in Miami Beach, Fla. He was immediately signed by the UFC, but his debut didn't go well by any standard.
Trump personal aide fired, escorted out without coat
Concerns over White House staffers' security clearances have punctuated much of the West Wing news over the past several weeks. McEntee joined Trump's campaign in 2015 and remained a strong figure next to the president.
Ex-Rams WR Sammy Watkins intends to sign with Chiefs
Injuries plagued him in 2016, when Watkins played eight games and caught 28 passes for 430 yards and two touchdowns. The Packers likely see Watkins as a dynamic, field-tilting receiver capable of changing the offense overnight.
After a standout career as a professional wrestler, Punk made his debut with the Las Vegas-based promotion at UFC 203, where he was soundly defeated by Mickey Gall via first-round submission on September 10, 2016.
Instead of giving up, though, Punk has remained dedicated to MMA. Punk has no amateur MMA experience to speak of and he does train with Roufusport out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Now, it looks like White is willing to give Punk another chance inside the Octagon on home turf.
Dana White said in January that he was going to give Punk another shot, and his second career fight will happen in the ideal place. While the UFC has not confirmed the news, it seems likely that if Punk is to fight again, UFC 225 will be the card.
The fight will take place in CM Punk's hometown of Chicago, Illinois at UFC 225 on June 9th.
