The Chicago Bears have landed a big-time wide receiver in free agency to pair with young franchise quarterback Mitchell Trubisky for the foreseeable future.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news early Tuesday morning which was followed up by the network's Josina Anderson reporting the terms of the expected three-year deal worth $42million, an annual average that would tie for eighth-largest among current wideout contracts.
The Chicago Bears are hoping for a turnaround in their fortunes with Robinson, who now steps in as their immediate number one choice. In 2015, Robinson caught 80 passes for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns, putting him in the Pro Bowl.
Through his first three offseasons Pace's free-agent track record isn't good.
Coutinho wants Neymar to re-join Barcelona
The Brazil global is now recovering from foot surgery having missed Paris Saint-Germain's second leg against Real Madrid. Following Rakitic ideology, former Liverpool star Coutinho also supported Neymar's speculated return to Barcelona .
Robinson tore his ACL in the first game of the season previous year and will be recovering from knee surgery. After that, restricted free agents who earn tenders are only allowed to negotiate with the franchise they played for this past season. Robinson, 24, had 48 catches for 548 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie before a knee injury ended his season after 10 games.
Robinson will walk into an immediate No. 1 role with the Bears, who are now project to start Robinson and Kevin White on the perimeter, with Cameron Meredith in the slot.
Robinson's addition will be a major upgrade to a Bears receiving corps which finished dead-last in the league in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Robinson also expressed interest in moving to Chicago. Wide receiver has been a trouble spot for him, with Meredith being the only true bright spot at the position. Now we wait to see if Robinson can play like it.
