Mourinho Slams De Boer Over Rashford Comments

Frank de Boer

Frank de Boer believes that Jose Mourinho is the wrong manager for Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford.

"'It's a pity that his manager is Mourinho because you want to give him time and he can make mistakes".

De Boer was in charge of five competitive matches as Palace boss earlier this season, losing his four in the Premier League but beating Ipswich in the EFL Cup before his dismissal on September 11.

The perception of United as a pragmatic team set up to get results continues to grate with Mourinho as he faces Sevilla following a goalless draw in Spain three weeks ago.

Yet, some labelled him as a fringe player simply because Alexis Sanchez's arrival gave Mourinho the opportunity to rest a 20-year-old who had played nearly every game for United.

The England ace made his first league start since Boxing Day last weekend and scored twice to help United sink bitter rivals Liverpool.

As usual, though, a number of fans and pundits fed off of the hype of the game, and idiotically hit out at Mourinho for not playing Rashford more often.

He added, "It's just simply wrong for ABC to have a television program that expresses that kind of religious intolerance". While claiming he accepted her apology, he then passive aggressively suggested she needed to make it public.

Those words incurred the wrath of Mourinho, who dubbed De Boer the "worst manager in Premier League history" and now the club have come to their manager's aid with the supposed "myth-busting stat".

He was saying that it is not good for Marcus Rashford to have a coach like me, because the most important thing for me is to win.

"If he was coached by Frank he would lose because he lost every game. But he's so talented and you want to see him play every week". "When you're in the last 16 it looks really far but in the last eight you start smelling [the] semi-finals". When a team gets into the last eight, the feeling is you are among the best and anything can happen.

The Frenchman was absent during the part of Monday's training session observed by the media, but Mourinho said Pogba joined the workout after that and has not been completely ruled out.

Michael Carrick has confirmed he will retire at the end of the season. "That's pretty much where I'm at".

Mourinho went on to credit United's academy staff and his predecessor Louis van Gaal for their role in Rashford's development and insisted the player remains in safe hands under his own leadership.
