Roger Federer has stressed that he is not surprised after Novak Djokovic crashed out in the early stages of the 2018 Indian Wells and the world No.1 has backed the Serbian star to "only get better from here".
Seeded losers included Italian No. 16 Fabio Fognini, 4-6 7-6 (2) 6-4 against Jeremy Chardy of France, and Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, hammered 6-0 6-3 by young Croat Borna Coric.
"Just some inexplicable, uncharacteristic errors, but that's I guess all part of those particular circumstances that I'm in at the moment".
On the winning side, Roger Federer had a work hard but he finally finished off Federico Delbonis 6-3, 7-6 (8).
Novak Djokovic and British No1 Kyle Edmund suffered disappointing defeats at Indian Wells on Sunday.
"For me it felt like first match I ever played on the tour". They were cheering so heavily in my favor, and it really got me excited, pumped up. They previously clashed in the final of the Buenos Aires Challenger a year ago, with Daniel rallying for a three-set win. Very weird. I mean, I just completely lost my rhythm. He denied a set point while serving down 2-5 in the opener and immediately broke the former World No. 1 in the next game, firing a backhand victor down the line and a forehand pass off a poor smash.

There is a trade deficit with the USA , meaning more American products and services are bought down under than sent the other way. The bloc says that it's a close ally of the USA and therefore any import levies on national security grounds are unjustified.
Djokovic took six months off after Wimbledon previous year and returned at January's Australian Open, where he lost in the fourth round.
Verdasco, 34, is making his 15th straight appearance in Indian Wells and trying to improve on his 2009 quarter-final run. "I'd like to congratulate my opponent for fighting and showing great, great spirit on the court", said Djokovic.
Yuki Bhambri of India pulled off a surprise when he toppled ninth-seeded Frenchman Lucas Pouille 6-4 6-4.
After Federer, who is scheduled as second match of the day session, Sloane Stephens and Daria Kasatkina will face each other.
"Federer said", It's been a long time since I have been interrupted at night and have to come back the next day". "So talking about faster, I just think there is more bounce to it, especially if you play someone who has a lot of spin like he has and kicks the ball around a lot".
Daniel, who beat Britain's Cameron Norrie in the first round, will next meet Leonardo Mayer, who defeated Ruben Bemelmans 6-4 6-1.
