"In pursuance of Rule 5 of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Business Rules and as an interim measure, I, Mehbooba Mufti, Chief Minister, Jammu and Kashmir, do here by assign the charge of the Departments of Finance, Labour &Employment to Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari in addition to the Government Business already assigned to him", said an order issued by the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu on Tuesday. The party (PDP) saw that this is an issue. His exact words were, "Don't see Jammu and Kashmir as a conflict state and political issue, it is a society which has social issues right now".
"Those who heard my speech or care to read it dispassionately will know that when I was talking about our aspirations and the efforts at self-discovery, I was in fact nuancing the very stand of the People's Democratic Party before a very select audience", he asserted.
"By pleading the social problems of Kashmir during a conference on Kashmir in Delhi, Drabu has virtually sought the attention of the central government for resolving the issues confronting the youth and the development and as such his statement doesn't go against the government", he said. The political situation has never improved.
"We seriously need to look at in terms of how it is a society that is in search for itself", Drabu had said at an event organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi on Friday. "She may have shunted Drabu out from the ministry much earlier had she been sure the BJP wouldn't object or make life hard for her", said a senior J&K bureaucrat. "I will continue the all good work which was done by Haseeb Drabu", Bukhari said soon after he was assigned the additional charge as the finance minister. "The fact is that it is a long-held belief and I have repeatedly said it that the engagement with Kashmir should be at various levels".
Along with BJP general secretary Ram Madhav, Drabu was involved in stitching together the alliance between the two parties - one of which (BJP) draws its strength mainly from the Hindu-dominated Jammu region while the other (PDP) is more Kashmir-centric in its political outlook. There is no scope to call J&K a political issue if United Nations resolutions are not taken into consideration unless all the three parties do agree to some resolution outside United Nations resolutions.
However, PDP leader said that he was not given any chance to explain his side of the story and added that he bore ill will against no one. Although it's an internal matter of the PDP but his statement of Kashmir not being a political issue was condemned by everyone cutting across the party lines in Kashmir, he said.
