Microsoft's Adding new Data Centers in Europe and the Middle East

US tech giant picks UAE for first Middle East data hubs

"Driven by strong customer demand for cloud computing, local datacenters were the logical next step given the enormous opportunity that the cloud presents". The data centers would be Microsoft's first in the region, making the USA tech giant the latest cloud service provider to invest in the digital infrastructure in the Arab world.

The data centers would allow customers of Microsoft - which competes with Amazon and Google in the $260 billion cloud-computing market - to keep data in Germany, which has relatively strict privacy laws. The Dynamics 365, however, will be available from early 2019. "The new cloud services enable customers to digitally transform their businesses empowered by Microsoft's global network and the latest innovative services while meeting their compliance requirements to store customer data in Germany", said Sabine Bendiek, Area Vice President, Microsoft Germany. The new announcement expands Azure regions to 50 regions across the globe, which includes plans for 12 new regions.
