Ford Focus: Slimmer Outside, Roomier Inside

The new Ford Focus is here – and Britain's favourite family car is now cheaper than ever

The announcement coincided with the unveiling of the fourth-generation Focus in Europe, where it was billed as one of the brand's most advanced mainstream cars to date. Ford will begin sales of the new generation Focus later this year in Europe and US.

Like the current Ford Focus, the new auto is a global product, but will be tailored for each region of the world.

The all-new Focus will be offered in three trims - ST-Line, Titanium and top-end Vignale.

The engine in question is expected to have cylinder deactivation tech like the newly developed 1.5-liter EcoBoost in the standard 2019 Focus, along with a direct-injection system and twin-scroll turbocharging.

The new family vehicle promises to be a big hit with nearly two million sold in the United Kingdom since the original launched 20 years ago.

According to Ford, the Ford Edge ST will come running on the 2.7 liter EcoBoost engine that will be offering about 335hp and 380lb ft of torque. Petrol buyers can choose from a 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit with 84bhp, 99bhp or 123bhp, while diesel is available as a 1.5-litre unit making 95bhp or 118bhp. Other highlights include an auto dimming rearview mirror, rain sensing wipers, a passive entry system and an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen display.
