Putin: Russia convening emergency United Nations meeting on U.S. aggression against Syria

"Top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer is calling the airstrikes "appropriate", but says "the administration has to be careful about not getting us into a greater and more involved war in Syria".
Tayyip Erdogan, president of Syria's neighbour Turkey, said on Friday he had spoken by phone with Trump and Putin and told both that increasing tensions in the region was not right.
Those comments raised immediate questions as to whether the military operation would extend beyond an initial round of missile strikes.
He evoked chemical weapons attacks in World War I and said, "today the nations of Britain, France and the United States of America have marshaled their righteous power" against what he called barbarism.
"On April 7, dozens of men, women and children were massacred in Douma, with the use of a chemical weapon in a total violation of global rules (.) The red line established by France in May 2017 was crossed", Macron said in a statement.
"We can not tolerate the normalisation of the use of chemical weapons, which is a direct threat to the security of the Syrian people and our collective security", Macron said.
"We would have preferred an alternative path". They were a predictable move, considering Trump made threats earlier in the week. "As we learn more from the White House, I encourage the President-our Commander in Chief-to continue to engage with Congress should he decide to take any further action".
White House Explains Trump's Reversal on TPP
Negotiating a new pact could take years. "We've heard some of this discussion and debate about whether the USA might join before". The United States entered TPP negotiations in 2008.
Still, the strikes Friday risk drawing the USA deeper into the Syrian conflict, and could further heighten tensions between the US and Russian Federation, which threatenedearlier in the week to shoot down any US missiles launched at the Syrian government. Get ready Russian Federation, because they will be coming, nice and new and "smart!"
President Donald Trump on Saturday applauded Friday night's joint military strikes on Syria, tweeting that they "could not have had a better result". "You shouldn't be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!" "As other nations step up their contributions we look forward to the day we can bring our warriors home".
"No amount of American blood or treasure can produce lasting peace and security in the Middle East", Trump said.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged member states to "show restraint in these risky circumstances" and to "avoid any acts that could escalate the situation and worsen the suffering of the Syrian people".
He added that France will now return to taking political initiatives to end the crisis in Syria. Assad and Russian Federation have denied roles in the attack.
