According to the company, this reissue is not a simple adaptation for PS4, Xbox One and PC, because, in addition to optimizing the visual section for players to have a satisfactory experience, the controls will offer a traditional or modern scheme and voice dubbing.
Following several reports over the last couple of years, Sega kicked off FES 2018 with the announcement that it's re-releasing Shenmue I and Shenmue II for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. No release dates have been announced yet but more news should be revealed very soon. While this is merely a re-release and not a remaster, these more powerful systems will likely allow a game series that was ahead of its time to finally feel like it was meant to.
Unfortunately, its release on the the doomed Dreamcast console meant that few people played it, or its sequel, in their original forms, although Shenmue II did see a further release on the original Xbox. Before combat systems were perfected, Shenmue mastered the art of juijistu.
Update: The Shenmue I & II Steam page is live. It was one of the first games with a persistent open world, where day cycles to night, weather changes, shops open and close and NPCs go about their business all on their own schedules.
The physical and digital editions will be available to pre-order from first party stores, Steam and United States and EMEA retailers soon.
