Bon Jovi joins the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

When the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2018 inductees head into Cleveland's Public Hall on Saturday, at least one of its awardees won't play it by rote: Jon Bon Jovi. This year marked the band's third nomination; Brandon Flowers, of The Killers, will induct the band.

"It's getting pretty surreal, I got to admit", the Cars' Greg Hawkes told Billboard Friday night (April 13) at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's VIP Party at the museum in Cleveland. "I am considering doing one of the new songs and that is something that's just not done". Rock Hall board chairman Chris Connor also spoke about the renovations and thanked the NY board for its support. The rocker and activist's band, Bon Jovi - along with two other artists with area ties, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe - join The Cars, Dire Straits (sans leader Mark Knopfler) and The Moody Blues as part of 2018's new Rock Hall membership. Flowers recalled the first time he heard The Cars while growing up in a tiny, "no stoplight" town in Utah, saying "40 years later they still sound like a new band to me".

Guests are hitting the red carpet Saturday evening for the ceremony, which is back in Cleveland.

Dire Straits lead singer Mark Knopfler isn't attending the event.

It's worth pointing out that both of those plays took place in the first half, when DeRozan was supposedly struggling. Miles, acquired last summer for his long-range shooting, led the way with four, while Wright and Ibaka had three.
