Comey Says Trump 'Morally Unfit' In ABC Interview

Anchor George Stephanopoulos sits down with former FBI director James Comey for an exclusive interview that will air during a primetime 20/20 special on Sunday

A further line of media attack on Cohen and Trump was opened up by McClatchy Newspapers Friday, when it published a report claiming that special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating unproven allegations of "meddling" by Russia in the 2016 elections, has evidence that Cohen was in Prague for a meeting with Russian emissaries in the late summer of 2016, at the height of the presidential election campaign.

In his interview detailing excerpts from the book, the then-FBI Director claims Mr Trump pressed him for his loyalty during a private meeting in his early days as President. "I don't think he's medically unfit to be president".

Instead, Comey says he believes that Trump is morally unfit for what he calls treating women "like pieces of meat", lying constantly about matters big and small and insisting that people believe it, and seeing a moral equivalence of demonstrators and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia. After Clinton's loss, many Democrats blamed Comey, and Clinton herself has said it hurt her election prospects. "This president does not reflect the values of this country".

Asked about Trump's use last week of the words "slime ball" to describe Comey, Ryan said: "I don't use words like that".

"Our president must embody respect and adhere to the values that are at the core of this country", Comey told ABC's George Stephanopoulos.

Comey said he told the president the Federal Bureau of Investigation had not proved or disproved the allegations but thought it was important Trump knew about them.

A copy of former FBI Director James Comey's new book, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership," is on display, Friday, April 13, 2018, in NY. Comey adds, "It was all, 'What can we say about what they did and how it affects the election that we just had?'" And so I don't know the reason. "Just another of his many lies", Trump said on Twitter.

In the interests of completeness, you should know that it is the president's considered opinion that Comey is a nobody ("I hardly even knew this guy") and a writer of FAKE memos. Trump previous year abruptly removed Comey who was overseeing a criminal probe into whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to influence the 2016 presidential election that was won by him.

Comey asked referring to Trump's actions.

Lynch also says that Comey never raised any concerns with her regarding the email investigation.

Russian Federation says Syria chemical attack was 'staged'
The ministry also pointed at previous use of chemicals by the rebels in fighting with Syrian government troops. The accusation has been strongly denied by the Bashar al-Assad government in Damascus.

Military strike in Syria 'perfect'
Later Sunday, Trump sent a letter to congressional leaders informing them in writing of his decision to order the strike. Security Council rejected a Russian resolution calling for condemnation of the "aggression" by the three Western allies.

Comey alleged Trump is like a mob boss, who measures a man by his loyalty.

"James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR".

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders also took on Comey on Sunday during an appearance on ABC's This Week. I know my fantastic spouse did...

'These are more words I never thought I'd utter about a president of the United States, but it's possible, ' Mr Comey said.

But he did admit that he thought there was some level of obstruction of justice involved when Trump cleared the Oval Office so he could ask him to drop the FBI's investigation into Michael Flynn.

"Possibly. I mean, it's certainly some evidence of obstruction of justice", he said. "It would depend. upon other things that reflected on his intent".

Trump fired Comey last May and has publicly criticized him since then, but not to this extent.

"The challenge of this president is that he will stain everyone around him", Comey said.

Comey said in the exclusive interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos, which aired at 10 p.m. on Sunday (0200 GMT on Monday), that it is "possible, but I don't know" whether Russian Federation has evidence to back up the allegations about Trump's Moscow trip.
