IPL: Struggling KKR look to get together against buoyant Delhi
Apr 16 2018 by Francis Osborne
In another match today between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils, MI lost which they have never won any of the IPL 2018 matches so far. The Englishman's thunderous knock, punctuated with six sixes and as many fours, helped Delhi overhaul Mumbai's total of 194 with seven wickets in hand.
Rishabh Pant made a 25-ball 47 and his second-wicket 69-run partnership went a long way towards taking Gautam Gambhir's men over the line. Mumbai's Hardik Pandya had no answer for the rampaging-Brit, the allrounder leaking 32 runs from his two overs and giving Roy the flawless start to capitalise on. DD bowlers were hit all over the park by the opening pair and the 100-run stand seemed to be getting Mumbai to a solid 200+ total but then Evin Lewis was the first to go by getting caught to Rahul Tewatia's bowling.
"We were 10-15 runs short but still 180-plus is a good score on any ground", Suryakumar said. We knew that if we take it to the last over, we were going to win the game. With 11 needed to win off the final over, Roy smashed Mustafizur for 10 runs of the first two deliveries.
Karthik would also hope that his deputy Robin Uthappa, who is a KKR veteran, shoulders more responsibility with the bat as his scores of 13, 29 and 3 have been a big letdown. It was the third successive loss for Mumbai and they remain without a point after three matches.
Gambhir can heave a sigh of relief after their batting combination clicked following some experimentation in the first two matches. We were waiting for this win, and especially against Mumbai Indians, it's a great comeback from the team. But now we have played three and won one. Thank god we are on the winning side.

Bhunvneshwar Kumar (3-26) was the pick of an impressive bowling unit on his return from injury, though Shakib and towering Australia seamer Billy Stanlake, who found real pace and carry, also impressed with figures of 2-21.
Pant did not spare Dhananjaya, hitting him for two sixes and a four as Delhi grabbed 19 runs of the tenth over.
In-form Rana, who starred with bat and ball in KKR's home game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, continued his purple patch smashing Rashid for a four and a six in his first over. We wanted just one wicket. Kolkata Knight Riders play their next match against Delhi Daredevils on Monday.
They bowled brilliantly to restrict KKR to just 138 runs and did not allow the latter's batting to get any momentum.
