Manchester City wins English Premier League title after rivals Manchester United stumble

Manchester City wrap up title as United slip up at home to West Brom

Manchester City were confirmed as Premier League champions when arch-rivals Manchester United suffered a surprise 1-0 home defeat by bottom club West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

But City needed to win Tottenham on Saturday and hope United lose against West Brom today to be declared winners - and it was so!

The 43-year-old saw his side earn a 3-2 victory against United on Sunday afternoon, a week on from claiming a 1-1 draw against Swansea City on home soil.

Winning the title with five matches to go makes City the joint earliest champions in the Premier League era - matching the achievement of the 2000-01 Manchester United team.

Certainties for the Premier League title for months, they lost both legs of their Champions League semi-final against Liverpool as well as that game against United - and then resumed normal service by winning at Tottenham.

For Manchester City, whose manager Pep Guardiola had promised to play golf with his son rather than watch the game at Old Trafford, it was an odd end to the weirdest fortnight of their season.

In truth, that race was over a long time ago and it was a matter of time before City sealed the title.

It took a lot of faith and confidence in his team to not make any changes after such an emphatic loss, especially in the playoffs. The warning extends from the metro to much of southwestern Minnesota. "Obviously, you never want to get down to a 3-0 hole".

However most models are indicating that this boundary will halt north of Fredericksburg, keeping the warm moist air around. Afternoon would actually be worse because that would give the atmosphere more time to heat and create more instability.

Mourinho suggests Pogba not working hard enough in training
Everybody will try to improve like we did from last season. "When we don't play well people have a go at us, which I understand". The easy thing would be to go out of Europe and then collapse in the league through motivation going down.

Only Manchester United (1907-08 and 2000-01) and Everton (1984-85) have ever wrapped up the title with as many games remaining, while Guardiola has also become the first Spanish coach to win the English top-flight title.

This was West Brom's first league away win in 16 attempts and ended a 12-match streak without a victory - a run which included 11 straight defeats. What a great feeling!

The result sparked celebrations among the Light Blue half of Manchester but Mourinho said City's title deserved to be recognized for its true value. We always gave them the opportunity to be solid, compact in the low block with strong physical players.

"I'm buzzing, over the moon, so happy".

Pep Guardiola is just 12 points away (with five games left) from his previous best points tally in a single league season as a manager: 99 points with Barcelona in 2009-10.

"We didn't want or played simple, everything was slow, one more flick, trick, turn".
