Nation observes first of Ramazan with religious fervour

The PMD on May 4 had issued a handout stating that there are fair chances for the moon to be sighted on May 16 evening.
Addressing a press conference along with members of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, representatives of the Meteorological Departments, Mufti Muneeb said that testimonies of moon-sighting were received from various parts of the country including Lower Dir, Buner, Nathia Gali, Abbottabad, Quetta and other areas. The news has been confirmed by Chand Committee.
After years, Pakistan joins other world countries to observe beginning of the fasting month on the same day.
Therefore, the first Fast will be observed on Thursday (May 17, 2018) in Pakistan, India, Saud Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, England, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Japan, and Australia among others. This year however it is most likely that the Ramzan Chand will be sighted today evening.
