There will be a host of Indian and worldwide stars that will take the field for the Women's T20 Challenge match in Mumbai. Australia, New Zealand and England players will appear in this match.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced the squads (13 players each for the two teams) for the upcoming Women's T20 Challenge Match to be played on May 22 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The worldwide stars in the camp include Australia's Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney along with New Zealand all-rounder Suzie Bates.
Attacking batswoman and India's T20 vice captain Smriti Mandhana will lead IPL Trailblazers which includes pacer Jhulan Goswami, Suzie Bates and many popular worldwide women cricketers. "Australia's captain Meg Lanning has recovered from her injury and will be a part of Harmanpreet Kaur-led IPL Supernovas".
It also comprises Indian cricketers of the calibre of Mandhana, the southpaw opener and captain of the side, Deepti Sharma, the spinning all-rounder, Jhulan Goswami, the India pace spearhead and the young prodigy, Jemimah Rodrigues.
Indian cricketers Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur will be leading IPL Trailblazers and IPL Supernovas in this game.
"This is being staged as a well-deserved exhibition to showcase the tremendous depth and capability that women's cricket in India has achieved". "We are planning to get a women's IPL in place in two to three years", CoA chief Vinod Rai told AFP.
The exhibition match is scheduled to begin at 2 pm and all the IPL rules will be followed.
