The agency issued a new toll, saying there had been 58 cases since early April - an increase of seven over figures issued on Tuesday - and said it was actively following more than 600 contacts.
Mr Trump may be mindful of the barrage of criticism he encountered in 2014 after urging the Obama administration to bar entry to persons, including U.S. citizens, who had contracted Ebola in Africa.
In December 2014, a German-led team of scientists determined that the world's biggest Ebola epidemic could be traced to a colony of free-tailed bats that lived in a hollow tree in a remote village in Guinea.
The current outbreak is caused by the Zaire strain, which has the highest mortality rate, ranging from 60% to 90%, according to WHO.
In addition to the confirmed Ebola cases there are also 13 probable cases and six suspected ones, the health ministry said.
In a briefing in Geneva, Jean-Clement Cabrol, a doctor who had just returned from Congo, said "the patients were in the active phase of the disease, vomiting" when their families removed them from the hospital, put them on motorcycles, and took them to a religious gathering of 50 people.
Its appearance in the northwestern river port city of Mbandaka this time gives it a potential clear shot at the capital Kinshasa, a chaotic city of more than 10 million inhabitants that lies downstream.
Our support is vital in helping to contain Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and stop it spreading to other countries - and ultimately the UK.
Prototype vaccine will first be given to frontline health workers and then to people who have been in contact with Ebola cases.

Fett succeeded in his mission and took Han Solo back to Jabba's Palace, where he would meet an untimely end in the Sarlac Pitt. The highly-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi solo film is now in negotiations with Stephen Daldry of Billy Elliot fame to direct.
The cases represent a setback to costly efforts to contain the virus, including the use of an experimental vaccine, and show efforts to stem its spread can be hampered by age-old customs or scepticism about the threat it poses. The virus enters the body through broken skin or mucous membranes in the eyes, nose or mouth. Said Berkley: "So the idea that there is only a subset of people who are going to get it is complicated".
"We are working very hard with the countries in the surrounding area to ensure that their readiness and their preparedness could be up to the task of a case arising in these countries", she told AFP. "We can't lock everything", Henry Gray, the head of the MSF mission in Mbandaka, told Reuters.
Health Minister Oly Ilunga urged local residents to come forward for the vaccinations before the Ebola outbreak reaches pandemic levels. Health officials later turned up at the church to vaccinate several people who had been in contact with her.
Salama stressed though that the vaccine is "not a silver bullet", insisting it "is really the detective work of epidemiology that will make or break the response".
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said simply: "We are watching it around the clock, 24-7". "Taken together, these recent funding moves have created an air of uncertainty about the USA commitment to global health security more broadly, brought into stark relief in the midst of a new Ebola outbreak", KFF wrote.
World Health Organization has accelerated its efforts to contain the outbreak with nine countries neighbouring DRC. The river also runs along the border with the Republic of Congo to the west.
"All nine countries have initiated their readiness activities", Moeti said. However, he said this was not yet considered a suspected Ebola case and two or three other such alerts had turned out to be false alarms.
The current course of the disease in the DR Congo does not approach the dimensions of what occurred in West Africa four years ago.
