Xiaomi launches Redmi Y2 smartphone, MIUI 10 OS in India

Soon, Xiaomi Mi A2 May Launch in India

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi launched Redmi S2, the selfie-focused smartphone on May 10. If you take a look at the provided image, you will see a real-life shot of the Redmi 6 (at least according to the source, though it seems more like the Redmi Note 6), and this image shows both the phone's front and back sides. The smartphone will be made available on Amazon India, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores from June 12, while offline partner stores will get it in a few weeks.

Talking about Specs and features, Redmi 6 is expected to come up with a 5.84-inch FHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The launch event also included details of the MIUI 10 rollout, with info on device compatibility, features and those multiple rollouts starting by mid-June. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC (up to 2GHz), paired with an Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB/ 4GB of RAM.

There is a dual rear camera setup that includes a primary combination of 12MP + 5MP sensors with AI features like AI Portrait mode, Low light enhancement, etc.

At the event, Xiaomi also unveiled the MIUI 10 which was launched in China last week. It could run on the Android Oreo-based MIUI 10. However, Redmi Note 5 has a Full HD display which is 1080p resolution and thus higher than the Redmi Y2.

New Xiaomi Mi A2 spotted in Geekbench database

I've lost count of the number of devices Xiaomi has released that were powered by the Snapdragon 625 - it's clear that the company favors the chipset for its balance of performance and efficiency. Xiaomi India is still selling the Redmi Y1 which features a 16 MP selfie, Snapdragon 435, fingerprint sensors for a price of Rs 8,999 via its website. It comes in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants, which have either 32GB or 64GB internal storage respectively.

The Moto Z3 Play was launched yesterday and it is certainly a capable smartphone given its hardware specifications.

It is expected that Redmi 6 will have a white notch on the front panel. The device will be available in gold, rose gold and dark grey colour options. You can also switch from onscreen navigation to gestures. On the front, the device sports a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, AI portrait mode, AI beauty mode and an LED flash. The smartphone is also backed by a 3,080mAh battery and offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Global Positioning System as connectivity options. The smartphone packs a 3080mAh battery which company claims to last for an entire day.
