'America's Got Talent' victor Neal Boyd dead at 42

Boyd, who grew up in poverty, discovered operatic music in junior high school when his older brother was doing a school project involving classical music and brought home a CD of The Three Tenors.

News that Boyd died at his mother's home at 6:26 p.m. Sunday. It was already known that he had a health issue related to his heart.

The site reported that no autopsy was carried out as Boyd had long suffered from heart failure, kidney failure and liver disease.

Boyd has passed away at the age of 42.

It's claimed that Neal was at his mother's home in Sikeston, Missouri in the U.S. when he died.

Boyd's death comes one year after he and his mother were involved in a serious auto accident, in which their vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Boyd captivated audiences with his booming voice and quickly became a fan-favorite while competing on America's Got Talent back in 2008. "[Recovery is] a very slow progress".

Boyd released two albums following his AGT victory, My American Dream in 2009 and My Christmas Wish in 2013. He also ran for a seat in the Southeast Missouri House of Representatives, though he was not victorious in 2012 or in the general election in 2014.

Boyd was the co-owner of Cox & Boyd Insurance Solutions, an insurance agency in Missouri.
