‘Halo Infinite’ Revealed In Trailer at E3 With Master Chief

Microsoft kept the gaming announcements coming at its Xbox E3 press conference where it announced a series of studio acquisitions meant to bolster the original gaming content emerging from the console maker.

So far details are scarce on the new title. The E3 demo showcases some of the exciting potential of this technology - everything you see is running in-engine.

"We're increasing our investment in existing franchises that you already love", said Phil Spencer, who heads Microsoft's Xbox unit.

Halo: Combat Evolved, the first game of the franchise, was released on November 15, 2001 and quickly became a bestseller, generating very positive reviews and establishing Microsoft's new Xbox console as a legitimate competitor to Nintendo and Sony.

Once owned by Microsoft, the studio negotiated its independence after Halo Reach and went on to work on Destiny and Destiny 2, partnering with Activision and keeping a substantial amount of content in both games exclusive to the PS4.

Surprising news? Not exactly, but many industry observers have lingering doubts about the future of Microsoft-branded hardware under CEO Satya Nadella. He also added that 343 is "making changes to how we approach things", which could be interpreted in a number of ways.
