The owners of other entries in the Belmont Stakes have called for an investigation into the race, claiming that Justify trainer Bob Baffert may have used another horse in his stable to run interference for the Triple Crown victor.

Owned in partnership by China Horse Club, WinStar Farm, Starlight Racing and Head of Plains Partners, Justify earned $800,000 for the win and boosted his bankroll to $3,798,000. In the wake of his Belmont triumph on Saturday, they said they were open to the idea of keeping him on the racetrack but wanted to be absolutely sure he was healthy after a whirlwind schedule in which he raced and won six times, beginning in mid-February. Justify will continue to race throughout the year.

"The day the horse leaves the racecourse is the end of his career and his future is entirely determined by the success of his progeny", says Sam Bullard, director of stallions at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket, part of Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin racing outfit.

Justify's victory silenced the skeptics who believed the colt was due for a loss because of his rushed schedule and close result in the Preakness. "Oh, Mike. Don't empty that tank", Baffert said.
