President Donald Trump has repeatedly complained in recent days about Canadian tariffs on dairy products

US President Donald Trump shakes hands with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a meeting at the G-7 summit. "I own that, that was my mistake, my words", he said, according to the Journal and Bloomberg.

Navarro now regrets the "inappropriate" language he used, he admitted at a Wall Street Journal event on Tuesday. "I mean the problem is that we're dealing with a schoolyard bully and his henchmen", he said.

Trump said at a news conference on Tuesday in Singapore, after he met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, that Trudeau had "learned" from the experience. Trump's chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow accused Trudeau of "stabbing the U.S. in the back" and said Trump's Canadian counterpart had attempted to undermine the president on the eve of an important summit with North Korea.

Navarro exacerbated bilateral tensions between the USA and Canada on Sunday when he criticized Trudeau for double-crossing President Donald Trump.

Larry Kudlow, Trump's top economic adviser, echoed Navarro during an interview on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday, saying that Trudeau's comments amounted to a "betrayal".

A viral video of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau giving a press conference appeared to show his left eyebrow "falling off". But he also said that critical comments from Justin Trudeau would cost Canada "a lot of money".

Trump addressed the feud following his meetings with Kim in Singapore at a more than hour-long press conference. I really did, other than he had a news conference, that he had because he assumed I was in an airplane and I wasn't watching.

Navarro said on Fox that his words came "straight from Air Force One". Kudlow said the president won't "let a Canadian prime minister push him around".

Brazilian tennis legend Maria Bueno dies after mouth cancer battle
The hospital said that it would not release any more details on the passing of Bueno out of respect for her family. Bueno died at Sao Paulo hospital on Tuesday, but news of her death was not confirmed until Friday night.

Canada's prime minister earned Trump's ire by giving a press conference, after the USA president left La Malbaie, in which he spoke critically of USA trade policy and said Canada would "move forward with retaliatory measures" in response to Trump's move to impose tariffs on aluminum and steel.

Outside of the U.S., Trump's G7 partners - the EU, Canada and Japan - would suffer the biggest hits under that scenario.

Canada is the U.S.'s largest trading partner, and the US economy would struggle to make up for Canada's absence, Heyman noted.

Freeland said she had a "good conversation" Sunday with US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, and that the pair would try to meet in Washington this week.

Trudeau, Trump told ABC News, "shouldn't have done that".

One sure way to tell if this is White House strategy: wait to see if Navarro keeps his job after the apology, or if he comes under fire from Trump for showing weakness.

Trump, who has since threatened to impose tariffs on Canada, added: "He learned".
